Why are some of the IP addresses for my survey respondents not accurate?

The location data is driven by the information we are able to obtain based on the IP addresses associated with the recipients' computer and internet connection. Our system captures the IP address of the respondent and then looks up that IP address to determine its location.

There are a number of reasons why the location listed may not be accurate, including:

• Some corporate networks register respondents' IP addresses at a different location to where the respondents are physically located.
• Some Internet Service Providers use different IP addresses for certain users of their network.
• Respondents may be located in a different location to their usual physical location when they view or respond to the survey.

Unfortunately the location data cannot be relied upon with 100% accuracy, as it is driven entirely by the recipients' computers and internet connections. We are only able to cross-reference the IP address data we receive from the respondent with the publicly available information about that specific IP address.
