What is the Preflight report?
A preflight report gives you the ability to test your email campaign before sending. A Preflight report simulates the sending procedure and validates various aspects of the process. This includes Spell checks, Domain checks, Spam score checks to name a few as well as allows tagging a campaign with a meta tag. Your email campaign should pass certain preflight checks before it can be sent, such as the From, Domain and Subject. If you wish to view the preflight report within Microsoft Dynamics, navigate to the Send & Preview page on an email campaign and select the View Report button on the top right.
From
Email addresses in the 'From' section will get flagged in the preflight report if there is a space in-between each address. You will be prompted to correct this in the preflight report section.
Domain
The preflight report will not let you send your Campaign if your domain is invalid. This is not a very common issue but if it does arise, please contact our Helpdesk.
Subject
Concep Send gives you the option to enter a subject line later, if you are deliberating which subject to choose or if you simply do not have a subject yet. However, if you then do not go back and enter a subject line the preflight report will flag this.
Spam check reasons
The system uses the newest version of SpamAssassin to check your Campaigns for spam characteristics prior to each send. If you choose to run the Spam preflight report, or if your organization has set it up to run as a default, the purpose of this feature is to inform you of the likelihood that your message will be categorized as spam by various Internet Service Providers (ISPs). A summary of any findings are provided in the Preflight Report dialog box under the Spam heading.
- BODY: HTML has a low ratio of text to image area means that the campaign has heavy image content. You should consider adding more text to balance the campaign.
- The "Multipart message mostly text/html MIME" finding refers to the proportion of the HTML version to the plain text version (content on plain text tab compared to content in Page 1).
- The "raw illegal characters" finding is usually referring to characters such as &, <, >, \, /, # that may have been included in the content of your campaign.
- The "one time rip off" finding refers to the text "one time" or "rip off" or some combination thereof within the campaign content.
Generally a score of less than 5 will prevent your message from being classified as spam. We recommend adjusting these elements so that you can minimize your spam score, such as limiting the use of "free", dollar signs ($), all capital letters, etc.
Plain text, subscription and spelling wont stop your Campaign from being sent but it will flag it as pass with warnings.
